28-06-2020: A new cutting force model is on the way!

New cutting force models are being developed for general cutting operations. The first tests and parameter identifications are already performed. The new model is under investigation now.

05-05-2020: StochasticDelayDiffEq.jl

The StochasticDelayDiffEq.jl Julia package is now available and can be used for the numerical simulations of stochastic delay differential equations (e.g. stochastic models of machining [1], delay SIR epidemiology models considering stochastic perturbations [2,3]). This package can utilise a wide range of stochastic integrators, e.g., the Euler-Maruyama method, the implicit Runge-Kutta Milstein method, or even stabilised SROCK methods, to solve SDDEs. Furhtermore, the package can out-of-the-box use features from the DifferentialEquations.jl ecosystem, such as Monte-Carlo simulation and their statistical evaluation.

A journal paper was accepted for publication in the International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering with the title: “Pseudospectral method for assessing stability robustness for linear time-periodic delayed dynamical systems” by Francesco Borgioli, David Hajdu, Tamas Insperger, Gabor Stepan and Wim Michiels. This paper deals with parametric uncertainties in different class of delayed systems.

The first development steps of a Dexel based material removal simulator is ready. This method will be used to follow the changing geometry of the workpiece and to compute the Cutter-Workpiece-Engagement map.
